Houston High School is a fully accredited public high school located in Germantown, Tennessee, serving students in grades 9–12. The school was previously one of eight high schools operating in the Shelby County Schools (Tennessee)|Shelby County School District. The principal is Kyle Cherry. Houston Middle School, Southwind Middle School, and Schilling Farms Middle School are the main feeder schools to Houston High. However, since becoming a part of the Germantown Municipal School District (GMSD) in 2014, feeder schools are Riverdale School and Houston Middle School. ==History== Houston High School was established in 1989. Houston is also well known in Shelby County for its athletics, receiving the "Best of the Preps" recognition in the Shelby County Schools for the last sixteen years (1999–2014).〔http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2014/jun/06/stars-shine-haul-in-awards/〕 2014 will be the last year of eligibility for H.H.S. in the Best of the Preps awards, as it transitions to the GMSD. In 2004, Houston High School added an annex to accommodate the rapid influx of students during several years of rezoning on the part of the County system. Student populations swelled to around 2200 total, but have since been reduced to the "normal" size for the school, around 1700.
